Super Rose Variants

The Super Rose was the Battles in Time 'Golden Ticket' card. There was only 1 every 1,000 packs! It boasts a golden back rather than blue and boosts all ratings on your battles in time cards by '9999999'. The lenticular card has multiple variants corresponding to each set that is released. Below is the information on each one.

Test Set

The Test Set Super Rose is undoubtedly one of the rarest Super Rose variants. It is believed less than 50 were ever made, most ending up in collections and therefore are never seen again. The Test Set Super Rose is the most distinctive and easiest to spot. There is no foil back on these cards; instead, just a golden-coloured matte back, replacing the blue coloured image found on the other cards. Furthermore, there is the Test Set warning triangle as well. On the rear, there is only BBC 2006 with no website. One thing to note is all Test Set Super Roses are offcut, leaving the image shifted considerably to the left. Most Notable Indicators:
  • Yellow Triangle on the bonus box
  • Matte golden reverse
  • Lesser quality front images and transitions
  • Image off-centre, the bonus box closer to the left side of the card.

Exterminator Variant 1

The second Exterminator variant always has a glow around the head. The yellow and black box is slightly lighter, like the first Exterminator variant with the modernised power symbol. This card has the Battles in Time website and the BBC 2006 trademark. Most Notable Indicators:
  • New main set power symbol on a bonus box
  • Shiny foil reverse
  • It always glows; there are no images where it is just Rose Tyler.
  • Darker yellow bonus box
  • "www.battlesintime.co.uk and BBC 2006" Copyright on the rear.

Exterminator Variant 2

The first Exterminator variant is the same design as all the other super roses. The most notable point to differentiate it from the others is that this variant does not glow around the head constantly. There is an image when moving where it is just Rose Tyler. The yellow and black box is slightly lighter with the modernised power symbol. This card has the Battles in Time website and the BBC 2006 trademark. Most Notable Indicators:
  • New main set power symbol on a bonus box
  • New shiny foil reverse
  • One transition image does not glow yellow
  • Lighter yellow bonus box
  • "www.battlesintime.co.uk and BBC 2006" Copyright on the rear.

Annihilator Variant

The annihilator variant has the best design. Like the first Exterminator variant, the super rose has no glow around the head. The most notable difference is the blue tinge when transforming. This card has BBC 2007 on the rear rather than the previous BBC 2006.Most Notable Indicators:
  • One transition image does not glow yellow.
  • Deep blue tinge around Rose when transitioning
  • "www.battlesintime.co.uk and BBC 2007" Copyright on the rear.

Invader Variant

The Invader variant has a constant glow around the head, like the second Exterminator variant. This card has BBC 2007 same as the Annihilator card. This is the most common variation of Super Rose after the Ultimate Monsters Variant. Most Notable Indicators:
  • Card will always glow yellow
  • "www.battlesintime.co.uk and BBC 2007" Copyright on the rear.

Ultimate Monsters Variant

The Ultimate Monsters variant is the standard rose tyler transition, with one image showing no glow, similar to the Exterminator 1 and the Annihilator cards. These cards have the highest print quality of all of them. BBC 2006 on the rear with no website. Most Notable Indicators:
  • One transition image does not glow yellow.
  • No website on the reverse similar to the Test Set Super Rose. Just BBC 2006
  • Highest print quality out of previous cards

Devastator Variant

The Devastator variant is similar to the Ultimate Monsters Variant; however, the image doesn't entirely go to a standard Rose Tyler. There is always a slight glow around her eyes as shown in the attached image. There appears to be an adjustment to the colours so they are far more vibrant and deep. Furthermore, a blue tint similar to the Annihilator Rose present can be seen on the top of the head, and the left side before the yellow glow image makes the Tardis appear a lighter blue around her. Additionally, the title has a deep orange-red tint at the end of the transition. These cards are some of the nicer-looking images with the most transitions. BBC 2006 no website. It is believed these are one of the rarer variants, even rarer than the Annihilator variant. Most Notable Indicators:
  • One transition image does not glow yellow.
  • There is no website on the reverse similar to the Test Set Super Rose. Just BBC 2006
  • Highest print quality out of previous cards
  • Incredibly vibrant colours
  • The deep orange-red tint above the title at the end of the transition
  • Blue tinge similar to Annihilator card
